Terms and conditions: Once sizes are confirmed with you and prices are confirmed and agreed we require a deposit. As the majority of the work involved in creating a pergola is done in the workshop, only requiring a day to assemble on site we ask the following payment schedule. A £500 deposit is required unless agreed otherwise for larger structures to reserve a place in our building schedule.  The final payment is due on the date of delivery and will be required after the pergola is fitted and before the fitting team leave your premises, to be paid via bank transfer, a copy of your invoice will be brought with us to give to you.Deposits are non refundable should the customer have a change of circumstances. Deposits will be refunded should we not be able to deliver your pergola for any reason to do with our business. If payment is not received in full, the pergola remains our property and will be disassembled and taken away at our convenience without refund of deposit. Prices may increase from time to time and as such agreed prices or quotations are valid for 3 months from initial contact, phone, email, text or other. We will be able to give you a month for delivery upon your enquiry however if we do not receive your deposit, dates for delivery can drastically change depending on the time of year and pergola deposits received, we will contact you the previous month to let you know your delivery date and time.If your oak has already been ordered and your date is changed by you, this may result in loss of deposit if we can not fit you in our diary due to the your oak becoming un useable once the drying process has occurred. We will of course do our very best to accommodate changes however sometimes this isn’t possible due to our diary being full. If we can’t fit you in on your new preferred date, we will deliver your pergola to your property on our original agreed date and erection will be for you to arrange. The fitting charge will be removed from your invoice and payment will be required once the pergola has been delivered and before the delivery driver leaves. Unless otherwise agreed. PROGRAM OF WORKSFor instance, we will let you know what month your pergola is being delivered, sometimes our waiting times are shorter than other times of the year which are much longer. We will inform you of your delivery and fitting date the last week before the month we have told you your pergola will be delivered and fitted. While we will do everything we can to avoid any delays, construction does not take place in a factory and we can be affected by weather and other factors. We understand that sometimes delays happen with  ground works, however as our diary fills quickly for deliveries and fitting our next delivery space maybe a few months away. If your oak has been ordered and is in our workshop the same oak will be used to make your pergola. We would require at least 2 months notice should you want to postpone your delivery. GROUND WORKSIt is the customer he/she or the clients representative (landscaper) who is responsible for ensuring the accurate setting out of any ground works required according to the dimensions stated on our agreed quote. Whether your pergola is being erected onto a patio area or grassed area, these should be checked and re-checked to avoid any last minute calamity, should the foundations and the frame fail to marry up. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure there are correct foundations in place on any surface the oak pergola is being placed onto. TANNIC ACIDTannin is a natural product contained in Oak and contributes to its durability. It is normal for this to leach out of the frame when it gets wet. Although this usually weathers off external faces after some months it may leave a residual stain. Therefore, if you are using a pale coloured stone or other similar material that is prone to staining, it is essential that you provide adequate protection for it before the frame is brought to site. There are a lot of tannin stain removal products also available on the market. TIMBER SPECIFICATIONSGreen oak timber:  We use green oak timber for all of the frame construction for reasons of cost and workability. It will therefore be subject to shrinkage over time, cracks splits and bows. THE RAISINGOur Quotation assumes adequate access for a 4x4 and 14ft trailer and a suitable area for unloading your pergola. DIFFERENT FINISHESExternally an oak frame will weather to a soft silver grey, will crack, split and bow and does not require any further treatment. If the colour of fresh cut oak is desired treatment information is on our webpage, this will not stop split cracks or bows. Although our website does have aftercare information, due to the different weather conditions in different parts of the country this is  only a generic guide each customer should be aware of how much weathering their pergola will be effected and research their own treatment products. DRYING OF OAK FRAMESAs timber dries, it changes its looks and characteristics. The more it dries, the lighter and stronger it gets.  Our joints are designed so that, as the timber dries, the joints lock together to increase that strength.  This drying process does produce some issues though that need to be considered both in the design of your structure and for the aesthetics of the finished frame. The gentler the drying process the better for your frame. Sometimes frames are assembled and left for some years to weather before being covered in. This does them no harm at all, on the contrary, it allows the frame to dry gently and naturally.  However, the drying process does cause ‘movement’ in the timber, over time.  The four main effects of this drying process are:Shrinkage: The cells of the timber, as they lose their moisture, shrink in diameter, but not in their length.  This means that, by the time a piece of oak has settled down, it will have lost up to 10% of its width, but its original cut length remains the same. Therefore shrinkage is likely to cause gaps between the frame and other materials, such as glazing and wall sections if this has been added by the customer. Shakes: A shake is a crack, either very small, or in some cases quite substantial, that appear in the timber as the grain separates, and is very common in a drying frame.  Sometimes they can look quite alarming, but surprisingly do not alter the structural integrity of the frame  These shakes add enormously to the character of the frame, but are an important consideration in the aesthetics and well worth taking into account if, for example, you were expecting a smooth finish.Twisting: This is largely dependent on the straightness of the grain of the timber. We do our best to minimise the likelihood of this happening in our frames by careful timber selection and placement within the frame.STORAGE OF FRAMESIdeally a frame should be assembled as soon as it is ready; however we understand that sometimes delays happen. Where very long delays happen due to circumstances beyond our control the client should be aware that extra costs may be incurred to refit joints negatively affected.ADDING ACCESSORIES TO YOUR PERGOLA Your pergola is a ornament and as such we do not advise adding swings, hammocks , glass, heavy plastic or such like to your pergola. Anything added to your pergola after erection you will be fully responsible for any negative effect this may have on the pergola. Plants and lighting should not effect your pergola. We hold no responsibility for mould growth, slivering, blackening, splits cracks, bows, tannin marks or any other age or weather related instances. Now you have read our terms and conditions you will understand that we cannot offer any guarantee or warranty, due to the pergolas natural attributes. Other Businesses -  If you are a landscaping business or similar buying/sourcing a pergola for a client, it is your responsibility to ensure your client has read and understood our terms and conditions and aftercare information. A copy invoice will be given to the client.Once the pergola has been fitted any photos taken and placed onto the internet should quote our business name clearly: "Handmade by World of Wood Suffolk" By sending an enquiry and sending your deposit you have read, confirmed and agreed to our terms and conditions.
